Beginning with a raw lumber pile of random width boards, Jim hand selects each board, finds its mate and joins them back together to create the cabinet sides, the backs, and even the bottoms. Rarely does he ever use plywood in his cabinets, but if requested, or necessary then only the highest quality solid core veneer is used. You will NEVER find pressed board or particle board in his cabinets!
Next the stiles and rails for the face frames and the doors are crafted from the same piece of lumber to transmit visual unity. Knots and imperfections are stabilized, and then utilized to radiate integrity, character, and expression to the finished frame, door, or drawer.
Joinery is what brings life to the cabinet, joining all of the individual pieces into one. Dados. rabbits, laps, mortise & tenons, dovetails, tongue & groove, miters,... all of the old world methods of joinery are utilized in a J Lazy 3 custom cabinet. And the result, is that Pine, or Oak, or Maple, whatever your preference, takes on the spirit of your vision to complete the ultimate transformation... turning your vision, your house,... into your Home.

I have built custom homes for over 25 years. Log, Frame, Adobe, I’ve done them all, and the hardest part of each house to complete, was the finish carpentry.
Most builders install factory millwork, trim, and box cabinets with pretty facades, and go on to the next project. That was never good enough for me. I wanted to transform, for each of my customers, the house that I was building into the home that they would live in.
I finally realized the only way I could do that was to become a Custom Cabinet Builder. . .a Fine Woodworker. As with any revelation like this, there came a transformation. My calling in life.....Fine Woodworking and Custom Cabinetry, This is what I do....Jim.
